Redshirt junior first baseman Charlie Bussey III of the Francis Marion University baseball team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Feb. 2-8.

The Graniteville, S.C., native posted a .467 batting average with nine runs batted in, four extra-base hits, and 11 runs scored, as the Patriots delivered a 3-1 record last week, including a three-game sweep over West Liberty University. He also registered five walks for a .609 on-base percentage and slugged .933 in four games. In the series with WLU, he went 6-of-11 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and a solo homer.

Francis Marion will host a regional non-conference game on Tuesday (Feb. 10) versus Coker before beginning Conference Carolinas play this weekend with a three-game series at Chowan University.
