Sophomore defender Alana Hunt of the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team has been named the McDonald’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Sept. 29-Oct. 5, 2025.

The native of Swindon, England, played all 180 minutes of two shutout wins last week that saw the Patriots NOT allow any shots on goal.  She helped FMU limit Barton College to two shots (both not on target) in a 2-0 road win, while she herself registered a shot on goal from her defender position.  She then help limit Young Harris College to four shots (none on target) in a 1-0 win.

Hunt helped FMU extend its school-record scoreless streak to 554:15 as the Patriots have registered seven shutouts in their eight matches. 

FMU entered the national rankings for the first time since 2002 at the No.21 position, and is one of only three unbeaten and untied teams left in NCAA Division II women's soccer.

The Patriots (8-0-0) will play at UNC Pembroke on Tuesday at 5 p.m., before hosting Belmont Abbey College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
