Francis Marion University Athletics

Junior outfielder Paige Strickland of the Francis Marion University softball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of April 7-13, 2025.

The Creedmoor, N.C., native batted .440 (11-for-25) in six games (all wins) last week.  She scored six runs with a double, a triple, three home runs, and 14 runs batted in, while recording a .920 slugging percentage.  She stole one base and did not commit an error in six fielding chances (all put outs).

Against Chowan University, she went 2-for-4 with a run scored in game one and 1-for-4 with an RBI in game two.  Against Mount Olive, she went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI triple and then tied the school record with three homers in game two (3-for-4 with 7 RBIs).  On Sunday against Converse, she went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs and then 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the second contest.  She extnded her hitting streak to 19 games.  She also helped extend FMU's winning streak to 20 games.

Strickland's RBI total of 69 is the second highest in program history, and her 13 homers equals the fourth-highest season total.

Francis Marion (41-3, 21-1) will conclude its regular-season schedule on Wednesday with a road doubleheader against UNC Pembroke at 4 p.m.
