Francis Marion University Athletics

Sophomore Chelsea Seidewitz of the Francis Marion University women's tennis team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of March 4-10.

A native of Fassberg, Germany, Seidewitz went 2-0 at No.2 singles and 2-0 at No.2 doubles as the Patriots beat West Virginia Wesleyan College and Edinboro University both 7-0 last week.  Against WVWC, she beat Omolade Aderemi 7-5, 6-4 at No.2 singles and teamed with Polina Gontaryk to beat Cayley Symons and Omolade Aderemi 6-0 at No.2 doubles.  Versus Edinboro, she beat Cecilla Carayol 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 at No.2 singles and teamed with Gontaryk to beat Lara Sener and Sandra Riecken 6-0 at No.2 doubles.

Francis Marion (4-4) will open Conference Carolinas play on Friday, March 15, when the Patriots host Emmanuel University (Ga.) at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.  Admission is free.
