Senior post player Lauryn Taylor of the Francis Marion University women's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Dec. 18-30.

The Blythewood, S.C., native averaged 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in two contests during the period.  She shot 48.4 percent from the floor and was 10-of-15 at the foul line.  She also registered one steal.  Her totals included a 20 point/17 rebound/3 assist performance in the home opener against Converse University and a 23 point/8 rebound showing at NCAA Division I Charleston Southern University.  She now has seven double-doubles this season and 34 in her career.

During the week, Taylor passed Danielle Moore to assume 16th place on the Francis Marion career-scoring list with 1,353 points.

Francis Marion (6-5) will open the New Year with a pair of road conference games: Wednesday (Jan. 3) at the University of Mount Olive and Saturday (Jan. 6) at King University (Tenn.).  The Patriots' next home game will be Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 p.m. against Barton College.
