Madilyn Gartner has been named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) 2025 Academic All-America® women's volleyball team for NCAA Division II. She was a third-team selection.
A native of Albertville, Minn., Gartner has a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. The Division II team had a 3.96 cumulative GPA among its 21 members, including 12 with 4.00 marks in their undergraduate and/or graduate studies.
Earlier, Gartner was named the Conference Carolinas Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year presented by Hudl for the sport of volleyball, and was named to the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Team as an honorable mention selection.
Gartner played in every set this year and was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and was a first-team All-Region pick.
For her work in the classroom, she was also awarded the conference' Elite 26 Academic Award for 2025. She received a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2025 and has been placed on the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll and the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll on every possible occasion.
On the court, she was named the conference's Player of the Week three times in 2025 and led the league in total kills (462), kills per set (4.05), and points per set (4.43), while ranking 17th in hitting percentage (.242). Nationally, she ranked 15th in total kills, 13th in total attacks, 19th in kills per set, 24th in attacks per set, and 29th in points per set.
Gartner also averaged 1.92 digs per set and 0.43 blocks per set, served 16 aces, and posted a .919 reception percentage. She registered 27 matches with double-figure kills, including four with 20+ kills, to go along with seven double-doubles (kills/digs).
Her breakout season came after she missed nearly all of the 2024 campaign with an injury. She is also a two-time Academic All-Conference Team selection.
She helped lead Francis Marion to a 21-10 record, the East Division title, and the top seed in the conference tournament. (OVER)
She is the third volleyball player to earn Academic All-America recognition, joining Caroline Boone (2016) and Jessica Bartlett (2005).
Gartner is a graduate of St. Michael-Albertville High School.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-America® program, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and participate in a specified percentage of athletic contests. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® program.
