GREENVILLE, SC – Francis Marion University sophomore Aubrey Johnson has been named the Conference Carolinas volleyball Setter of the Week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.

A native of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Johnson averaged 7.79 assists and 2.79 digs per set while producing a pair of assist/dig double-doubles as the Patriots recorded a 2-2 record at the Tampa Volleyball Classic. Additionally, she dropped down nine kills and totaled seven blocks over the four matches.

On Friday in the tournament opener, Johnson totaled 12 assists, six digs, and one block versus the host #4 Spartans. She followed with 26 assists, nine digs, three blocks, and two kills in the afternoon session as FMU upset #17 Missouri-St. Louis via a 3-0 sweep.

The following day, Johnson delivered her best performance of the season, tallying 42 assists, 13 digs, two service aces, and five kills in a 3-2 comeback win over Florida Southern. In the final match on Saturday, she recorded her second double-double of the tournament after finishing with 29 assists, 11 digs, and two kills against Oklahoma Baptist.

It marks the third time in her career she has garnered a weekly accolade from the league office.

FMU will begin Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Ferrum College, starting at 6:30 p.m. The Patriots will host their home opener on Friday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. versus Young Harris College in the Smith University Center.

Johnson is a product of Minnetonka High School.
