The Francis Marion University softball program is ranked 10th in the final National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/GoRout NCAA Division II Top 25 poll of the 2025 season.
Francis Marion posted a 53-6 overall record, the most wins in program history, and captured its third consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament championship. FMU also won the conference's East Division title and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fourth straight year, serving as host for both the sub-regional and Super Regional rounds.
The Patriots earned the Southeast Region's No. 1 overall seed and reached the Super Regional round by sweeping the sub-regional with three consecutive shutouts.
FMU ended the regular season ranked second, and was in the top four for each of the final seven weeks of the regular season.
The Patriots began the season ranked 14th in the preseason poll, and in the following 13 weeks during the season were listed at #12, #9, #9, #8, #7, #7, #4, #4, #4, #2, #2, #2, and #2.
The 2025 campaign included winning streaks of 22 and 17 games, while four Patriot players earned All-America honors. This year's roster included only four seniors.
Only national champion and top-ranked University of Texas at Tyler (62-5), and No.9 West Texas A&M University (56-8) finished with more wins than Francis Marion among all Division II programs.
