13 Patriots earn EASTON/NFCA Scholar-Athlete Honors

FLORENCE, SC – Thirteen members of the 2025 Francis Marion University softball team have been named to the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, while the Patriots garnered a Team Academic Award for the fifth time in seven seasons.

As a team, Francis Marion posted a 3.548 grade point average to rank 75th among all NCAA Division II programs.

The players recognized were senior third baseman Peyton Gale (Firestone, CO), senior outfielder Emily Konz (Lantana, FL), senior designated player Emma Moberg (Stokesdale, NC), junior first baseman Tallulah Civoniceva (Scarborough, Queensland, Australia), junior second baseman Maddy Golka (Wesley Chapel, FL), junior outfielder Mikaela Goss (Fuquay-Varina, NC), junior outfielder Anderson Thrower (Hanahan, SC), junior right-handed pitcher Jenna Walling (Johns Island, SC), and junior shortstop Madalyn White (Currie, NC).

Also, sophomore right-handed pitcher Abby Williams (Cumming, GA), freshman catcher Rylee Gray (Sewickley, PA), freshman infielder Reese Miller (Clayton, NC), and freshman outfielder Sydney Weaver (Kingsville, MD).

Gale earns the academic honor for the fourth time, while Goss, Thrower, and Walling are three-time honorees. Konz, Moberg, White, and Williams all received the accolade for the second time.

Their majors are: Civoniceva (criminal justice), Gale (sports marketing), Golka (sports management), Goss (business), Gray (business), Konz (accounting), Miller (sports marketing), Moberg (sports marketing), Thrower (biology/healthcare administration), Walling (biology/healthcare administration), Weaver (education), White (biology/healthcare administration), and Williams (accounting).

Over the past 14 seasons, Patriot athletes have earned this recognition on 113 occasions.

On the field, head coach Stacey Vallee guided Francis Marion to historic 53-6 overall record, a No. 10 national ranking, an NCAA Super Regional appearance, and a third-straight Conference Carolinas Tournament title.

The Patriot softball team is one of 10 FMU sports that garnered academic team awards this past year.

The team and individual honors are submitted by member head coaches and recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories.
