Jenna Walling has been named to the Conference Carolinas All-Community Service Team for the 2024-25 academic year. This year's squad features student-athletes from six different member institutions.
Walling, a native of Johns Island, S.C., was earlier named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Conference Carolinas softball, while also earning both All-Region and All-Conference accolades for her play on the field.
Her community service activities included serving as an on-campus volleyball game volunteer and an FM-a-Glow volunteer, while working with Cooks for Christ, Help 4 Kids, the Florence Miracle League, and the Run Like a Nut race. She also served as a youth pitching instructor and a softball camp director and host.
Being a member of Conference Carolinas prepares students to lead lives of integrity, succeed professionally and become responsible citizens. Conference Carolinas is committed to helping to build champions in body, mind and soul. The virtues Conference Carolinas' student-athletes demonstrate during practice and high-level competition are the same ones they will use as graduates and leaders to help transform our culture and make the world a better place to live. Our students are nationally recognized for their extraordinary success in the classroom, in the community and at the highest levels of NCAA competition.
One of the key strategies for Conference Carolinas is helping to provide its member institutions opportunities for student-athletes to be more involved and engaged within the community. The Community Service Team features student-athletes from our member institutions who embody all of these qualities.
Walling recently graduated in three years summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, finishing with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is a two-time Academic All-Conference selection as well, and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society. She served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee this past year.
In the pitching circle, she registered a 20-3 record with a 1.88 earned run average and a school-record four saves. She logged 14 complete games and fanned 133 batters in 156 innings, while leading the conference in opponents' batting average against (.204). She ranked 34th in Division II with a 1.04 WHIP, 37th in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (5.29), and 45th in ERA.
She helped lead Francis Marion to a record-setting 53-6 mark, a No.10 national ranking, and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional title game. The Patriots won the East Division title and claimed their third consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament championship.
Walling is a graduate of First Baptist School.
To be eligible for the award, the student must be a junior or senior in academic status and own a grade point average of 2.7 or higher. In addition, the student must have completed at least two full-time semesters at the institution.
