Konz doubles up as All-American with Academic accolades

Francis Marion University senior outfielder Emily Konz has been named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) 2025 Academic All-America® softball team for NCAA Division II.  She was a second-team selection.

Earlier this year, she was named an NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) second-team All-American for her play on the field.

She is the 12th all-time, and the second Patriot this year, to garner both athletic and academic All-America honors in the same year, joining junior women's soccer forward Kristina Syragakis who registered the double last fall.

To qualify for the CSC Academic All-America® program, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and participate in a specified percentage of athletic contests. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.

Konz, a native of Lantana, Fla., recently graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting, and finished with a 3.727 cumulative grade point average.

She garnered Academic All-Conference Team recognition for 2025, earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors in 2024, is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma national college athlete honor society, and received a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2024. She was placed on both the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic and Conference Carolinas Presidential honor rolls for all four of her semesters at Francis Marion.

On the diamond, she batted .430 with nine doubles, three triples, two homers, and 34 runs batted in with a .484 on-base percentage. She ranks seventh nationally in stolen bases (44 of 45), 12th in runs scored (62), 16th in total hits (83), and 38th in batting.  She recorded 25 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games, reached base safely in 54 of 59 contests, and committed only one error in the field in 82 chances.

Konz helped lead Francis Marion to an historic 53-6 record, a No.10 national ranking, and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional title game.  The Patriots also won a third consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament championship.

Konz is a product of Park Vista High School.
