Kim Venghaus has been named the Conference Carolina Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by ConferenceCarolinasTravel.com for the week of April 7-13.
Venghaus, a native of Senden, Germany, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week. At No.6 singles, she defeated Caroline Brothers of 48th-ranked Lees-McRae College 6-1, 6-3 and then beat Callie Stanfield of Young Harris College 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play, she teamed with freshman
Maia Warlies at the No.3 position to beat Brothers and Lina Saqout of Lees-McRae 6-2 and Stanfield and Andreia Semeano of Young Harris 7-6 (7-4).
For the season, Venghaus is 7-1 in singles play, including an unbeaten 6-0 mark against conference opponents, and she owns a team-best 8-5 doubles record.
Francis Marion (7-8, 5-4) closes out its regular-season schedule on Wednesday (April 16) by hosting the University of Mount Olive at 2 p.m. on Kassab Courts. The Patriots will compete in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, April 24-27, at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
Venghaus is a management and marketing major and is a product of Joseph-Haydn-Gymnasium.
