Katie Floyd were named the Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Player and Specialist of the Week for the week of Oct. 13-19. It is the second time this season, Gartner has earned the offensive accolade.
A native of Albertville, Minn., Gartner averaged 4.91 kills, 3.91 digs, and 5.23 points during a 3-0 week in Conference Carolinas play for the Patriots. She posted three kill/dig double-doubles while registering a .285 hitting percentage along with five blocks, three assists, and one service ace.
On Tuesday night, Gartner produced a match-high 17 kills on an impressive .326 hitting percentage while adding 10 digs in a 3-1 road win at UNC Pembroke. She followed up with 16 kills and 13 digs on a .300 clip in a sweep of North Greenville University on Friday before a stellar 21 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 win versus the University of Mount Olive.
She has helped Francis Marion to a league-best 11-1 overall record in Conference Carolinas play, while individually ranking second in the league in kills per set (3.81), points per set (4.11), and attacks per set (10.94).
A native of Campbellsville, Ky., Floyd tallied double-digit digs in all three matches, averaging 4.36 digs and 1.36 assists per set. She posted a .919 reception percentage with just three errors on 37 total attempts.
Floyd finished with 16 digs and seven assists in a road win at UNCP before totaling 17 digs and six assists on a perfect 1.000 reception percentage in a sweep over NGU. She closed out the weekend with 15 digs and a pair of assists in a win against Mount Olive.
FMU is scheduled for a trio of matches this week: hosting Augusta University on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., before traveling to face Shorter University on Friday at 6 p.m., and Young Harris College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Gartner is majoring in biology and is a product of St. Michael-Albertville High School. Floyd, a marketing major, is a graduate of Taylor County High School.
