Senior guard Kennedi Simmons of the Francis Marion University women's basketball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Nov. 25-Dec.1, 2024.

The Greensboro, N.C., native scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including the game-winning bucket at the buzzer as FMU rallied from 20 points down in the fourth quarter to defeat Young Harris College 67-65.  She also recorded two rebounds, did not commit a turnover in 35 minutes, and was 4-of-4 at the foul line.  Prior to the game-winning hoop, she also scored the tying bucket on a reverse layup with 23 ticks left.

Francis Marion (5-1, 2-0) will play host tio Fayetteville State University on Tuesday (Dec. 2) at 5:30 p.m. before breaking for exams.  The Patriots will return to action on Dec. 14 at Barton College with a 2 p.m. tip-off.
