GREENVILLE, SC – For a consecutive week, Francis Marion University sophomore
Aubrey Johnson has garnered the Conference Carolinas volleyball Setter of the Week for the period of Sept. 7-13.
A native of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Johnson averaged 11.30 assists and 2.60 digs per set, as the Patriots posted a perfect 3-0 week to begin Conference Carolinas play. She also produced four kills and four service aces over three matches.
On Wednesday night, she eclipsed 1,000 career assists after tallying 39 in a 3-0 sweep at Ferrum College. Johnson followed up with a double-double on Friday, recording a season-high 46 assists with 12 digs in a 3-1 victory over Young Harris. The next day, she contributed another double-double after totaling 28 assists, 10 digs, two aces, and two kills in a 3-0 win versus Shorter.
This marks the fourth time that Johnson has garnered a weekly award from the conference office.
The Patriots continue conference play on Friday, Sept. 18, against Emmanuel University at 6 p.m. It will be a "Red Out" in the Smith University Center with the first 100 fans receiving a free foam finger. The following day, FMU will host Lees-McRae College on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m.
Johnson is a product of Minnetonka High School and is majoring in sports marketing.
