FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University Department of Athletics announced on Wednesday (July 1) the promotion of
Andy Slocum to Associate Director of Athletics.
Slocum oversees the compliance and student-athlete development efforts of the department's 15 NCAA intercollegiate athletic programs. As a member of senior staff, he also works collaboratively with units across the department and campus to develop policies and procedures that ensure institutional, conference, and NCAA compliance.
"Since arriving at Francis Marion, I quickly learned what so many others already knew. Andy has been an invaluable member of our department, and this promotion reflects the leadership, professionalism, and commitment he demonstrates every day," expressed Director of Athletics
Quin Monahan. "Andy has earned the respect of our coaches, students and staff through his work ethic and unwavering commitment to our student athletes. I'm excited to recognize his contributions with this well-deserved promotion and look forward to all he'll continue to do for Patriot Athletics."
Slocum is responsible for directing, coordinating, and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program in accordance with university, conference, NCAA rules, regulations, and procedures. He also serves as the official liaison for athletics to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
In his second stint at Francis Marion, Slocum is entering his 10th year after serving the previous four years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Welfare. He began his career in intercollegiate athletics in 2015-16 as an Athletic Administration Intern with the Patriots before working in facilities and operations at the University of Buffalo during the 2016-17 athletic year. He returned to FMU in 2017, serving as the Director of Facilities and Event Operations before transitioning to the Director of Compliance in 2020.

Slocum serves as the Advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which is a dynamic group of student-athletes dedicated to providing a voice for the interests and concerns of the student-athletes. Additionally, he has served as the Tournament Director for the NCAA Softball Sub-Regional the previous two years.
A native of Arcade, N.Y., Slocum earned his bachelor's degree at Houghton College in physical education in 2010 before receiving a master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College in 2015.
