Patriot Tennis Teams open conference tournament play

SUMTER, SC - The Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams will open play in their respective Conference Carolinas Tournaments on Wednesday (Apr. 22) at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Admission is free to the single-elimination event.

The 10-9 FMU men are seeded sixth and will face seventh-seeded North Greenville University (11-11) at 2 p.m.  A victory would advance the Patriots to the quarterfinals on Thursday at 9 a.m. against third-seeded Converse University (14-6).  Both semifinal matches are set for Friday at 9 a.m. and the championship match is slated for Saturday at 9 a.m.

Francis Marion and North Greenville did not meet during the regular season. The Patriots lead the all-time series 10-1.

The 9-10 Francis Marion women are seeded eighth and will play fifth-seeded Erskine College (12-8) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.  A win would advance the Patriots to the quarterfinals on Thursday at 1 p.m.  The semifinals are slated for 1 p.m. on Friday and the championship match for Saturday at 1 p.m.

FMU and Erskine did not meet during the 2026 regular season.  The Patriots lead the all-time series 17-11.

The FMU women shared the East Division championship with Barton College this season.
