FLORENCE, SC – Despite wins from sophomore Lara Lanno and junior Magdalena Skachova at the top two singles positions, Francis Marion University lost to Augusta University 4-2, Thursday afternoon (Apr. 2) in non-conference women's tennis play.
 
Francis Marion (6-8) will host Barton College on Tuesday at 2 p.m., the start of a three-match homestand on the Kassab Courts.
 
Augusta (6-6) took the first two doubles matches to finish, 6-4 at No.1 and 7-5 at No.3, to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 advantage.
 
The Jaguars upped their lead to 2-0 with a victory at the No.3 position as singles play began.
 
Skachova registered a 7-5, 6-1 win at No.2 singles and Lanno was victorious 6-2, 6-4 at the top spot to even the match at 2-2.
 
However, Augusta claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at No.5 singles and a 6-4, 6-0 decision at the sixth rung to clinch the match.
 
The remaining singles match, No.4, was in a third set when the contest was finished.
