Miguel Maia recorded a straight sets win at the No.1 singles position, but the Patriots lost to the University of Mount Olive 6-1, Wednesday (Apr. 1) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis play.
Francis Marion (5-9, 3-4) will return home to host Barton College on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
Mount Olive (8-4, 7-0) swept all three doubles matches, by scores of 6-2 and 6-2 and 7-5, to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Trojans then won the first three singles matches to finish (#5, #3, #2), all in straight sets, to clinch the match, before Maia registered his 6-3, 6-2 victory at the top spot.
