FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University lost only 12 games en route to a 7-0 Conference Carolinas victory over Chowan University, Saturday afternoon (Match 14) in women's tennis play.
Francis Marion (2-5, 1-1) will host a non-conference match against Lander University on Monday at noon, before returning to league action at home against the University of Mount Olive on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Magdalena Skachova started doubles play with a 6-0 victory at the top spot, before freshman

Lara Lanno clinched the 1-0 lead with a 6-1 win at the No.3 position. Sophomores Fatima Hernandez Huerta and
Valery Gomez completed the sweep with 6-1 decision at the second doubles spot.
When singles play started, FMU freshman Lucia Acuna Montero upped the advantage to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking at the No.6 position. Lanno claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top position and Skachova recorded the match-clinching point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the second singles spot.
The Patriots also got straight-set singles victories from Juhasz (6-1, 6-0) at No.4, Hernandez Huerta (6-1, 6-1) at No.5, and Gomez (6-1, 6-4) at No.3.
