Box Score FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University lost only one set while cruising to a 7-0 win over visiting Chowan University, Saturday afternoon (March 14) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action.
Francis Marion (3-5, 1-1) will host conference foe University of Mount Olive on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The Patriots swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Miguel Maia and freshman Viktor Viraghalmi won 6-0 at the No.2 position, junior
Alexandre Frigout and freshman
Boris van Ruiten were victorious at the top spot 6-1, and sophomores
Adrian Calvo Guerrero and
Diego Vega Espinosa completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory at the No.3 rung.
FMU senior
Niklas Plath started singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No.6 position. Frigout followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the second spot and Maia recorded the clinching point with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 decision at the top position.
Francis Marion also got singles wins from van Ruiten (4-6, 6-3, 6-1) at the No.4 spot, Viraghalmi (6-1, 6-3) at the third rung, and Calvo Guerrero (6-1, 6-2) at the No.5 position.
