ANDERSON, SC – Francis Marion University won the doubles point and a quick singles point, but Anderson University (SC) rallied to claim a 4-2 non-conference win over the Patriots on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 21) in women's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion will play its home opener on Thursday when the Patriots entertain Lander University on the Kassab Courts at 2 p.m.
 
After the Trojans won the No.2 doubles match, Francis Marion won the other two contests to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 advantage.  Junior Magdalena Skachova and freshman Janka Juhasz were victorious at the No.1 spot 6-4 and sophomore Lara Lanno and freshman Alyssa Boschin won a 6-3 decision at the No.3 position.
 
Anderson (6-0) tied the match with a straight-sets win at No.6 singles, but Skachova regained the lead for FMU with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory at the No.2 position.
 
The Trojans earned wins at spots one, three, and four to clinch the match.
