NEWBERRY, SC – Francis Marion University received singles wins from sophomores Lara Lanno and Fatima Hernandez Huerta, but the Patriots fell to Newberry College 5-2, Monday afternoon (Feb. 16) in non-conference women's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (0-2) will play at Anderson University (SC) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Newberry (3-1) swept all three doubles matches – by scores of 6-3, 6-2, and 6-3 – to take the early 1-0 advantage.
 
Lanno evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No.1 singles position.  However, the Wolves captured the next three singles matches to clinch the match.  Hernandez Huerta accounted for the other FMU point with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No.6 spot.
