HICKORY, NC - Francis Marion University sophomore Fatima Hernandez Huerta picked up a straight-sets singles win, but the Patriots lost a 6-1 road decision to Lenoir-Rhyne University, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) in non-conference women's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (0-1) finally played its season opener after waiting through several weather postponements.  The Patriots will play at Newberry College on Monday at 2 p.m.
 
In doubles play, FMU junior Magdalena Skachova and freshman Janka Juhasz were victorious 6-3 at the No.1 spot, but the Bears took the other two matches by 6-1 and 6-2 scores.
 
Hernandez Huerta earned her win by a 6-4, 6-4 score at the No.6 singles position to account for the Francis Marion point.
