Francis Marion University senior Ryan Hunter has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week (for field events) presented by ConferenceCarolinasTravel.com for the week of March 31-April 6.

Hunter, a native of Blythewood, S.C., set three school records at last week's FMU Patriots Invitational Meet.  He bettered his own school record in the javelin with a heave of 63.48 meters.  That mark was also a provisional NCAA national qualifying mark and the best throw in the conference in 2025 by more than four meters.  He also eclipsed the school record in the 100 meters with a new mark of 10.67 during the prelims, and then finished tied for fourth in the finals (10.81).

He was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that placed first with a school-record time of 41.73 and he finished fifth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.14.

Francis Marion will compete in the Trojan Relays on Friday and Saturday (April 11-12) hosted by the University of Mount Olive.

Hunter is a supply chain management and economics double major and a product of Blythewood High School.
