Box Score AUGUSTA, GA – Freshman Miguel Maia picked up a pair of wins for Francis Marion University, but the Patriots suffered their first loss of the 2025 season, a 5-2 road decision to Augusta University, Friday afternoon (Feb. 21) in non-conference men's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion (2-1) will host Limestone University on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
 
The Patriots took an early 1-0 advantage by winning the doubles point.  The Jaguars (5-1) won at No.2 doubles, but Maia and senior Martin Barbera were victorious 6-3 at the No.1 position and FMU sophomore Alexander Mirkov and senior Austin Vienna clinched the point with a 7-5 win at the No.3 spot.
 
August then rallied for the win by taking the first five singles matches to finish.
 
Maia accounted for the other Francis Marion point with a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (8-6) victory at No.3 singles.
