Wingate University on the opening day of the Coker Cobras Volleyball Classic.
FMU will play West Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. to conclude its portion of the event.
Senior middleblocker
Kaytlin Smart led the Patriots with seven kills, while
Kara Walker,
Caroline Lucas, and
Chaney Barth all added six kills.
Junior setter
Mya Mendoza dished out 27 assists and junior libero
Katie Floyd dug up 10 balls and served two aces.
Sydney Morland led Wingate with 12 kills on only 18 swings.
Francis Marion threatened to force another set by rallying to within 20-19 in the third set after a kill by Walker, but Bulldogs pulled away to secure the sweep.
