ROME, GA – Stunned by a sixth-minute goal, Francis Marion University responded with four unanswered scores to claim a rainy 4-1 road win over Shorter University, Saturday afternoon (Sept. 28) in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action.

Francis Marion runs its unbeaten string to seven matches and improves to 5-1-2 overall 4-0-0 in conference play.  The Patriots will travel to the University of Mount Olive for a 7 p.m. kick-off on Wednesday.

FMU outshot the Hawks 26-6 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Ian Milla made his first start in goal for FMU and registered three saves.  Shorter's Rasmus Berg tallied 12 saves.

Shorter took the early lead when Camden Hillhouse found the back of the net at the 5:29 mark.  Francis Marion responded quickly as senior midfielder Andre Sabino scored an unassisted goal at 7:53 to knot the score.

Midfielder Mario Buelga continued his strong play with the go-ahead tally at 33:24.

Buelga then assisted on a goal by senior forward Oliver Jarvis in the 54th minute that upped the margin to 3-1.  Forward John Osadolor, the Patriots' leading scorer, accounted for the final goal with 6:29 remaining as he chipped the ball over Berg.  Junior defender David Guevara assisted on the final score with a 35-yard pass over the top.
