FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University fell 8-0 to 28th-ranked Lander University on Tuesday (Apr. 16) evening in a mid-week out of conference baseball match-up.

Francis Marion will resume Conference Carolinas league action on Friday (Apr. 19) evening as they travel to Central, S.C., to compete against Southern Wesleyan University at 6 p.m.

Kollin Crepeau accounted for the four Patriot hits, while Lander (32-11) totaled nine hits.

Both teams went scoreless through the first five innings, Francis Marion leaving a total of two baserunners stranded compared to Lander's seven.

The Bearcats tallied their first run of the contest in the top of the sixth inning. After Connor Moeller was plated to take a 1-0 lead, Lander posted an additional five runs for a 6-0 lead.

Lander registered two more runs, one in the top of the seventh inning and one in the top of the eighth inning. Â

Francis Marion used a total of 11 pitchers with junior left-handed pitcher Mailk Frails (0-1) being charged with the loss. Lander's Jake Larson (7-1) completed the nine-inning shutout as he faced 33 batters and threw 112 pitches with eight strikeouts.
