Kristina Syragakis paced Francis Marion University with both goals against Barton College in a 2-0 road victory on Wednesday (Oct. 23) afternoon.
Francis Marion, now 8-1-4 overall, remains unbeaten in its last 11 matches, equaling the second longest streak in program history. The Patriots improve their Conference Carolinas slate to 7-0-3.
The Patriots will return to the field on Saturday (Oct. 26) afternoon in a road match against Belmont Abbey College at 4:30 p.m.
FMU sophomore goalkeeper
Erin Grabeel did not have to make a save as the FMU defense held Barton to only two shots and neither were on frame. Barton's (4-6-3, 1-5-2) Taylor Primack tallied two saves in 90 minutes.
The Patriots tallied 14 shots, with four of those shots landing on frame. Francis Marion also took six corner kicks, while Barton had none.
Syragakis' first goal was scored in the 17th minute, unassisted, and placed in the bottom right netting for a 1-0 lead. Her second goal was assisted by freshman defender
Bryn Lahart at the 43:18 minute mark.
Syragakis leads Conference Carolinas with 14 goals scored this season and ranks second in NCAA Division II. Her 14 scores equals her total from the 2023 season and moves her into ninth place on the Francis Marion career list with 28.
The Patriots held the Bulldogs without a shot for the opening 66 minutes.
