MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Francis Marion University men's soccer team blanked Mount Olive University 1-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 19) evening with an early goal from
Philipp Worner in the 10th minute.
Patriots (3-1-2, 3-0-0) will return to the pitch on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 5:30 p.m. at Barton College. FMU entered the Southeast Regional rankings this week at No.9.
Francis Marion started the game off hot with Worner scoring off a rebound from Mount Olive's defense and taking the Patriots up by a score of 1-0. It was his first score as a Patriot.
The Patriots played controlled and kept the ball in their possession for most of the game outshooting Mount Olive 10-3, putting five shots on frame compared to the Trojans' two. Both teams posted three corner kicks.
The Patriots held their defensive line for the entirety of the game.
