BRISTOL, TN – After losing the doubles point, Francis Marion University stormed back to win all six singles matches to claim a 6-1 road victory over King University (Tenn.), Saturday afternoon (Apr. 8) in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action.

Francis Marion ups its overall record to 8-10 and improves to 3-5 in the conference. FMU will play its final two regular-season matches at Emmanuel College (Ga.) on Friday at 1 p.m. and at North Greenville University on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Francis Marion won the No.3 doubles match by default, but the Tornado (4-11, 0-9) captured the other two contest sto earn the doubles point and an early 1-0 advantage.

The Patriots won by default at the No.5 and 6 singles spots and senior
Gabriel Karatantcheva was a winner at the No.1 position by a 6-0, 6-2 decision and sophomore
Kim Venghaus was victorious 6-3, 6-3 at No.4 to clinch the match for the Patriots.

The other two singles wins came from junior
Julie Martincova (7-5, 6-3) at No.3 and freshman
Chelsea Seidewitz (5-7, 6-2, 6-1) at No.2. Seidewitz leads the squad with a 12-3 season mark, while Karatantcheva is 10-7.
