Box Score WILSON, NC – For the second time this young season, Francis Marion University lost a heart-breaking 4-3 decision to Barton College, this time on the road Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22) in non-conference men's tennis action.
FMU (2-2) will play host to local rival Coker University on Tuesday at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
Francis Marion took a 1-0 lead after doubles play as all three Patriot duos were victorious: junior William Anth-Forsberg and graduate student Alex Regner 6-4 at No.1, seniors Mauricio Guerrero and Henri Broeseler 6-4 at No.2, and junior Matt Astell and freshman Liam Day 7-6 at No.3.
The FMU lead swelled to 3-0 after Guerrero won 7-5, 6-3 at No.5 singles and Day won 7-6, 6-2 at the No.3 spot. However, Barton rallied to win the remaining four singles matches, three of them in three sets, to defeat the Patriots.
