AIKEN, SC – Sophomore Alyssa Hansen pounded out 15 kills to lead Francis Marion University to a 25-23, 25-21, 25-16 victory over Converse College, Saturday on the second day of the Pacer Invitational Volleyball Tournament hosted by USC Aiken. However, the Patriots dropped a 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 decision to Valdosta State University later in the day despite a season-high equaling 16 kills from junior Kayla Arthur.

Francis Marion (6-6) will play host to Chowan University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Smith University Center.

In the day's first match against the Valkyries, Hansen tallied her kill total on only 33 swings and posted a .333 hitting percentage.  Sophomore middle blocker Iyanla Thigpen added 12 kills on 18 swings and recorded a pair of blocks.

Sophomore setter Finn Millians dished out 36 assists and senior libero Natalie Vaughn dug up a team-high 14 balls.

Arthur came within one kill of her career high in the later match against the Blazers. She also registered 11 digs.  Thigpen chipped in eight kills, Millians totaled 30 assists and 13 digs, and Vaughn posted 15 digs.
