MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – Junior Kayla Arthur delivered a team-high 16 kills, but Francis Marion University dropped a heartbreaking five-set decision (18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12) to Georgia College, Friday night (Oct. 25) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.

FMU (13-10, 1-4) will conclude its weekend trip with a 2 p.m. match at Augusta University on Saturday.

Following Arthur was sophomore Iyanla Thigpen with 14 kills and three blocks.  FMU sophomore setter Finn Millians registered 44 assists, 17 digs, and three service aces, while senior libero Natalie Vaughn dug up a team-high 22 balls.

Libby Bochniak paced Georgia College (7-13, 1-4) with 17 kills, 14 digs, and five blocks.

A 5-0 spurt by the Bobcats midway through the fourth set erased an FMU lead as the Patriots were looking to clinch the match.  FMU closed to within 22-20, but two Bobcats kills and an attack error by Francis Marion forced a fifth set.

Three straight points by FMU allowed the Patriots to grab an 11-10 lead in the fifth set, but Georgia College recorded four of the next five points to claim the 15-12 clinching win.
