CONWAY, SC – A young Francis Marion University squad dropped its season opener to NCAA Division I Coastal Carolina University 7-0, Thursday afternoon (Feb. 1) in men's tennis action.

Francis Marion returns to action this weekend at the City of Florence College Tennis Invitational. FMU is set to face Palm Beach Atlantic University on Friday at 6  p.m. at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.

The Patriots utilized five freshmen and one sophomore in its singles lineup on Thursday, and four freshmen and two sophomores in doubles.  Freshman William Anth-Forsberg lost a tight 7-6, 6-4 decision at No.1 singles, while freshman Anton Nordenhem splits sets at the No.5 spot before losing 10-6 in the tiebreaker.

Anth-Forsberg and freshman Charles Hutchings dropped a 7-6 decision at No.1 doubles.  The match was scored by Division I rules with the overall doubles winner receiving one point.
