GAFFNEY, SC – Center fielder Garrett Lowery belted two homers and drove in seven runs to lead Limestone College to a come-from-behind 8-4 victory over Francis Marion University, Wednesday evening (March 22) in non-conference baseball action.

Francis Marion (20-8) will play host to Flagler College for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series this weekend, starting with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Patriots scored four times in the second inning to take an early lead.  Junior first baseman Trey Chapman knocked a bases-loaded single through the right side that scored two runs and a third run crossed home plate on an outfield throwing error.  Junior outfielder Zach Paquette then drove in Chapman with an RBI ground out.

Limestone (16-12) deadlocked the game with four tallies in the last of the fifth off FMU starter Austin Griffie.  Left fielder Ryan Creps put the Saints on the board with a solo homer and Lowery later clouted a three-run shot.

Lowery's one-out grand slam in the bottom of the seventh accounted for the winning margin.

FMU junior left-hander Adam Hornstra (2-1) took the loss as he allowed the first three runs in the seventh.

Saints' reliever Michael Sholtis (2-1) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and no runs with three strikeouts.

In addition to Chapman, the other Patriot hits came from senior catcher Logan Koch, senior second baseman Antonio Pino, junior left fielder William Robbins, and sophomore center fielder Cole Hinnant.

Despite the RBI, Paquette had his 14-game hitting streak snapped, as well as his streak of safely reaching base at 20 consecutive contests.
