FLORENCE, SC – Six Francis Marion University pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout and eight different Patriots registered base hits during a 9-0 blanking of Chowan University, Tuesday evening Feb. 14) in non-conference baseball action.

FMU (7-0) will look to match last season's 8-0 start when the two teams reconvene on Wednesday at 5 p.m. for Faculty Appreciation Day at Sparrow Stadium.  Please note the start time has been pushed back several hours from its original time due to forecasted rain earlier in the day.

Freshman left-hander Garrett Wilson (2-0) earned the win with a pre-determined three-inning start.  He allowed two hits and struck out one.  Sophomore southpaw Arien Seymour followed with two scoreless frames before four hurlers each tossed one shutout inning.

Patriot pitchers have given up only six earned runs in the seven contests.

Junior designated hitter William Robbins was the lone Patriot with two hits as he finished 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two driven in.  Junior center fielder Reese Cooley reached base safely four times with an RBI double and three walks.  He also drove home another run with a first-inning sacrifice fly.

The Patriots plated three runs in the first, fifth, and sixth frames to account for the nine tallies.

Chowan lefty Will Edwards (0-2) started and took the loss as he surrendered three runs (only one earned) on four hits in four innings.  The Hawks dip to 2-3 on the young season.

Center fielder Connor Arcobasso went 2-for-4 at the plate for Chowan.
