DUE WEST, SC – Senior TeTe Flowers, junior Briana Burgins, and sophomore Shaunice Fulmore combined for 53 points to lead Francis Marion University to a 75-50 victory over North Greenville University, Saturday evening (Nov. 12) in the Peach Belt Conference/Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Challenge.

Francis Marion evens its season mark at 1-1.  The Patriots will play their home opener on Wednesday when they entertain Chowan University at 6 p.m. in the Smith University Center.

Fulmore and Flowers each scored 18 points, with the latter point guard doing it on 7-of-11 shooting while grabbing five rebounds and handing out five assists.  Burgins tallied 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting while also hauling down eight rebounds.

The Patriots forced 25 North Greenville turnovers that were converted into 27 points.

Karen Donehew led North Greenville (0-2) with 13 points.

Holding a narrow 9-8 lead with 4:12 left in the opening period, FMU scored the quarter's final 11 points to push ahead 20-8.  The Crusaders pulled to within 20-13 early in the second period, but thanks to hot shooting (9-of-13 for 69.2%) Francis Marion gradually pulled away to a commanding 42-20 halftime advantage.

North Greenville managed to cut the deficit to 15 points early in the fourth period at 54-39, but again the Patriot accuracy heated up and FMU scored 12 of the next 14 points to grab a 66-41 advantage.  FMU made 7-of-11 field goal attempts (63.6%) in the final quarter.

For the game, Francis Marion connected on 47.5 percent of its field goal attempts, including 3-of-9 from behind the three-point arc, and 14-of-19 free throws.  North Greenville managed only 37.7 percent, including 4-of-11 from three-point range, and 6-of-10 free throws.
