AUGUSTA, GA – GRU Augusta connected on 61.4 percent of its field goal attempts and the Jaguars used a 20-4 run sandwiched around halftime to claim a 101-75 victory over Francis Marion University, Wednesday night (Feb. 18) in Peach Belt Conference men's basketball action.

The Patriots fall to 13-13 overall and 5-12 in the PBC, two games behind fourth-place USC Aiken. Francis Marion will host the Pacers for Homecoming and Senior Day on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Junior forward Dii'Jon Allen-Jordan led FMU in scoring and rebounding with 23 points and five boards.  Freshman Mike Davis Jr. scored 17 points, while senior Luka Zivkovic and freshman AJ Jackson each added nine points.

Devonte Thomas paced GRU Augusta (21-5, 13-4) with 21 points, while Keshun Sherrill registered 19 points as five Jaguars reached double figures.

FMU made a respectable 47.1 percent of its shots, including 9-of-26 three-point attempts, but the Jaguars were red-hot, including 11-of-23 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots managed only 18-of-31 at the free throw line, while the Jaguars were 20-of-29.

GRU Augusta took an early 7-3 lead only to see the Patriots rattle off seven straight points to lead 10-7.  The score was deadlocked at 18-18 when the Jaguars put together a 9-4 spurt.  The margin would reach nine, 38-29, after a three-pointer by Thomas with 3:36 left before halftime.

Allen-Jordan scored six in a 10-1 run by the Patriots that tied the score at 39-39 with 1:37 on the clock.  GRU Augusta finished the first stanza with an 8-0 run to lead 47-39 at intermission, and then scored 12 of the opening 16 points in the second half to take a 59-43 advantage.

The margin swelled to 21 points, 66-45, before Davis Jr. sparked an 11-0 Patriot run that trimmed the margin to 73-60 at the midway point of the second half.  The Brunswick, Ga., native scored 10 in the spurt – a trio of three-pointers, including one that became a four-point play. However, GRU Augusta answered with an 8-0 spurt and the Patriots would not threaten again.
