CONWAY, SC – Despite a No.1 singles win by sophomore Richard Ashforth, the Francis Marion University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to NCAA Division I opponent Coastal Carolina University, Thursday afternoon (Feb. 12).
Francis Marion (1-3) will return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 18) when the Patriots host North Greenville University at 2:30 p.m.
Ashforth improved his career record to 17-2 with a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 come-from-behind victory over the Chanticleers' top player.
FMU battled competitively in the doubles portion, losing by 8-5, 8-6, and 8-5 scores.
