Florence, S.C. (Feb. 20, 2014) – The 17th ranked Francis Marion University men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over Erskine College Thursday afternoon at the Kassab Courts. The Patriot women also topped the Flying Fleet 6-3.
The Patriot men move to 3-1 on the young season, while the women also improve to 3-1 overall. Both squads are back in action Saturday morning against the University of North Georgia as a part of the homecoming festivities. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
After sweeping all three doubles matches, the men took singles matches at the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. Marius Wahlier and Luke Bateup each took victories in the fifth and sixth spots without dropping a set.
The women were up 2-1 in after doubles play, and secured the victory with wins in the top four singles positions. Freshman Samantha Kolliker earned her first career victory in the top position.
