Box Score FLORENCE, SC – In a game that was interrupted on Jan. 17 by water on the playing court with Francis Marion University trailing by 12 points, the Patriots could not rally when the game was resumed Monday night (Feb. 25) and Armstrong Atlantic State University claimed a 75-61 Peach Belt Conference victory.
The game was postponed with Armstrong leading 46-34 and 17:19 on the clock when a leak in the Smith University center roof made the floor unplayable. The contest was picked up at that point on Monday.
Francis Marion (11-13, 5-12) will hold Senior Night on Wednesday when the Patriots entertain UNC Pembroke at 5:30 p.m. in the team's final home appearance of the season.
Senior forward Jasmine Williams-Hayes paced FMU with 14 points and five rebounds, while senior guard Kristen Dickerson scored 11 and junior Dee Gray tallied 10 points and six rebounds.
Junior guard Tori Klewicki-McNutt led Armstrong (12-13, 7-11) with 16 points, while senior forward Demisha Mills scored 15 points and junior center Mauri Wells added 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
After played resumed and the Pirates leading 46-34, Francis Marion trimmed the deficit to11 points, at 49-38, on back-to-back buckets by Dickerson and freshman guard Camille Dash. Mills accounted for the game's next five points to start a 16-2 Pirate run that stretched the lead to 25 points (65-40) with 8:09 remaining.
Francis Marion closed the game with a 13-2 run of its own to cut the final margin to 14 points. Williams-Hayes scored nine of her points in that final push.
