MONTEVALLO, AL – The University of Montevallo used a pair of big innings to sweep Saturday's (Feb. 25) Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from 12th-ranked Francis Marion University. 

The Falcons scored nine runs in the bottom of the second inning to overcome a 6-2 deficit and grab a 16-8 win in game one.  An eight-run fourth frame led the Falcons to a 10-5 victory in the second contest.

Francis Marion drops to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the PBC, while Montevallo improves to 6-8 and 3-2.  The two teams will play the final game of their three-game series on Sunday at 2 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Freshman left-hander Tyler Smith (1-1), the second of four FMU pitchers in game one, was tagged with the loss.  Junior righty Don Sandifer dropped to 0-3 on the season with the loss in game two.

Senior center fielder Buddy Sosnoskie and junior catcher Jacob Golliday were both 3-for-5 in game one, with Golliday driving in two runs and Sosnoskie one.  Senior second baseman Brock McCallister, junior designated hitter Will Chandler, and junior outfielder Reggie Weatherford all had two hits, junior first baseman Stephen Tarkenton had a three-run double.

Chandler drilled a two-run homer in the second contest.
