Bussey III, McAnally, and Orr earn All-American recognition

FLORENCE, SC – Three members of the nationally-ranked Francis Marion University baseball team – redshirt junior Charlie Bussey III, junior designated hitter Ethan McAnally, and senior first baseman Riley Orr – earned American Baseball Coaches Association and Division II Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) All-American honors for the 2026 season.

With the selection, Bussey III and McAnally achieved consensus first-team status by all three major organizations. Orr garnered second-team honors in the infield from the D2CCA and ABCA.

Bussey III claimed Southeast Region Player of the Year from all three organizations as well as First-Team All-American honors in the outfield. He garnered Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honors for a second-straight year, becoming just the second player to achieve the honor in league history. Additionally, Bussey III was named first-team all-region and all-conference selection while also being selected to the Conference Carolinas All-Defensive Team as a right fielder.

A native of Graniteville, S.C, Bussey III recently produced one of the best statistical seasons in NCAA Division II history. He is one of only three players in DII history to eclipse 100 hits and 100 runs scored in a single season. He shattered the Division II record for runs scored with 118 and 1.97 runs scored per game in a season. Bussey III also finished in a tie for 10th all-time with 113 hits in a single season.

He leads the country in batting average (.489), hits (113), on-base percentage (.604), runs scored (118), and total bases (200) while ranking fourth in slugging percentage (.866) and fifth in walks (57). Bussey III reached base safely in 58-of-60 games played while leading the team with 38 multi-hit games. He is the program's all-time home run leader with 35 and has set single-season records for batting average, hits, runs scored, slugging percentage, total bases, and walks.

In his first season with the Patriots, McAnally also became a consensus First-Team All-American at designated hitter from all three major organizations. He ranked second in the nation with 104 runs batted in, tied for the second-most in a single season in NCAA Division II baseball history. Additionally, in the national rankings, he sits third in home runs (24), fourth in total bases (190), sixth in runs scored (84), seventh in slugging percentage (.848), and eighth in hits (95). McAnally held a .424 batting average at the plate with 27 multi-RBI games and finished the year on a 45-game reached base streak. He reached base safely in 58-of-60 games while setting the FMU single-season record in home runs and runs batted in.

A native of Maryville, Tenn., Orr earned Second-Team All-American status from two organizations as a utility player and was an All-Conference Carolinas Second-Team honoree at first baseman. He ranked ninth in NCAA Division II with 78 runs batted in while also sitting 15th in hit by pitches (24) and 20th in doubles (21). Orr produced a .373 batting average with 84 hits, 11 home runs, 70 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases in his final season of collegiate baseball. He tied for second on the team with 23 multi-RBI games and fourth with 24 multi-hit performances.

Francis Marion made its first-ever trip to Super Regionals in 2026 and shattered the program record for single-season wins after posting an impressive 46-14 mark. The Patriots earned an NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time since 2012 and came one game shy of reaching the NCAA Division II College World Series.

Bussey III is a sports management major and a product of Aquinas High School, while McAnally is a mechanical engineering major and a graduate of J.M. Tate High School. Orr is a sports management major and a product of Maryville High School.
