FLORENCE, SC – Tyler Cappelmann, Buddy Sosnoskie, and Michael Wilson all pounded out three hits and drove in two runs to help power 15th-ranked Francis Marion University to a 14-2 win over visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Tuesday evening (April 5) in non-conference baseball action.

Francis Marion, now 27-9, wins for the 11th time in its past 12 contests, while St. Andrews drops to 8-29.  FMU will open a three-game series at North Georgia College & State University with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Junior righty Jarrott Hooks, the second of four Patriot hurlers, was credited with the win to remain unbeaten at 4-0.  Junior right-hander Jordan Douglas also tossed two scoreless innings.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning off FMU starter Sam Pepper.  Adrian Rivera led off with a single, advanced around to third on a pair of infield groundouts, and then scored on an RBI single up the middle by outfielder Colin Armstrong.

Francis Marion quickly responded in its half of the second.  The Patriots batted around, scoring nine runs on nine hits.  Sosnoskie had two hits in the inning, including a two-run double, and freshman left fielder Dalton Gress registered two hits in the frame, including a two-run single to center.

FMU added a single run in the third and three tallies in the fourth to lead 13-1.

Patriot designated hitter John Jones also had two hits for the night: a run-scoring single and an RBI triple.

St. Andrews starter John Allen Renn (1-6) allowed six runs and was tagged with the loss.  Catcher Jake Anderson was 3-for-4 to pace the Knights, while designated hitter Michael Cantwell was 2-for-4.  First baseman TJ Werner drove in the other St. Andrews run with a seventh-inning single.
