FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University senior first baseman Riley Orr has been named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) 2026 Academic All-America® baseball team for NCAA Division II. He was a second-team selection.
The native of Maryville, Tenn., maintains a 3.89 GPA while pursuing a bachelor's degree in management. Orr is the only FMU baseball player to earn both athletic and academic All-America distinctions in the same year. Seven of the 13 members of the second team boasted a 3.85 GPA or higher.
In 2026, Orr was an ABCA/Rawlings and D2CCA Second-Team All-American while also earning first-team all-region status by both organizations. He was a second-team all-conference honoree at first base and earned Conference Carolinas Player of the Week twice this season. Orr has been named to both the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll and the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters this academic year.
Orr started all 60 games for the Patriots and ranked 10th in NCAA Division II with 78 runs batted in while also sitting 15th in hit by pitches (24). He produced a .373 batting average with 84 hits, 11 home runs, 70 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases in his final season of collegiate baseball. Orr tied for second on the team with 23 multi-RBI games and fourth with 24 multi-hit performances.
In his only season with the Patriots, Orr helped Francis Marion to a school record for wins in 2026, finishing with a 46-14 mark and ranking seventh nationally in the final ABCA and D2 Baseball polls. He contributed to an offense that led the country with 669 runs scored while ranking among the top five in hits (739), on-base percentage (.466), scoring (11.2), stolen bases (173), and batting average (.354). The Patriots spanned a 14-year hiatus from the NCAA Tournament in 2026 and reached their first-ever Super Regional.
Orr is a graduate of Maryville High School.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-America® program, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and participate in a specified percentage of athletic contests. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® program.
