Sophomore middle blocker Caroline Lucas of the Francis Marion University volleyball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 6-12.

A native of Easley, S.C., Lucas averaged 4.10 kills and 0.60 blocks per set, while posting a .639 hitting percentage in two matches last week.  She also recorded seven digs and two service aces.

Both contests were five-set wins over Barton College, the former to end the regular season and the latter to advance the Patriots in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.  In the regular season finale, she posted 18 kills and a .654 hitting percentage, and this past Sunday pounded out 23 kills with a .629 hitting percentage.

For the season, Lucas leads the conference in hitting percentage at .405 and ranks 11th in points per set (3.36), 13th in kills per set (2.81), and 16th in blocks per set (0.59).

The fifth-seeded Patriots (16-15) will face fourth-seeded UNC Pembroke on Friday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the tournament at the North Charleston Athletic Center.
