Senior defender Sebastian Garcia of the Francis Marion University men's soccer team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 11-17.

Garcia, a native of Asuncion, Paraguay, played all 180 minutes in two matches last week -- a 1-1 road tie at Wingate University and a 1-0 home win over King University (Tenn.).  He helped the Patriot defense allow only 17 shots in the two matches with only six being on frame.  He scored the lone goal in the 1-1 tie at Wingate on Sept. 13, his third career goal.  He also registered two shots and helped anchor the Patriot defense in the shutout of King on Sept. 16.

Francis Marion will play a pair of Conference Carolinas road matches this week: Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the University of Mount Olive and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Barton College.
