Freshman right-handed pitcher Jenna Walling of the Francis Marion University softball team has been named the McDonald's Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, 2023.

The Johns Island, S.C., native posted a 2-0 record in her first two collegiate starts with a 2.15 earned run average.  Walling registered 11 strikeouts in 13.0 innings.  She threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts in a 9-0 win at USC Aiken and then recorded her first complete game in a 5-4 win over Augusta University, during which she fanned five.

Francis Marion will play a pair of road doubleheaders this week: at Catawba College on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and at Limestone University on Sunday at noon.
